Linked By Wonder
I delight at the sight of a butterfly gliding past,
imagining who last gazed upon it,
admiring its phenomenal design,
amazing geometry holding in brilliant colors.
The wonderment of childhood returns as I watch it fly away;
I feel young again . . .
I think how I'm now linked
to another, somewhere, who was dazzled
by its beauty, too.
The mystery intrigues me and takes my imagination
on a wild ride,
much the way I wandered in my mind as a little girl,
watching the ripple I made in the water
from the rock I threw.
How I wondered where the ripple traveled
and who felt the gentle lapping of water on their skin,
as they swam in the silent message I sent them.
